Making an Impact: Welcoming Pexhurst and fellow collaborators to Our Food Bank
At Restore Northampton, our Make an Impact Days are all about bringing local teams together to create hands-on, meaningful change. These half day volunteering experiences give groups the chance to see behind the scenes, learn about hidden poverty in Northampton, and actively support the work that makes our community stronger. From guided tours and real life impact stories to practical volunteer tasks such as donation sorting and parcel packing, these sessions help organisations fulfil their social value goals while making a tangible difference to families in need.
We recently had the pleasure of hosting four companies, coordinated by Main Contractor Pexhurst. They are currently working on an industrial refurbishment project, working alongside Leslie Clark and Project Manager Spring Building Consultancy at Swan Valley. Their teams joined us in the Food Bank for a Make an Impact Day, and what a day it was.
Incredible Feedback From the Day
We’re delighted to share just some of the reflections from participants:
Restore Northampton was described as “very organised” with “many initiatives and areas of support.”
Volunteers appreciated the opportunity to be hands-on:
“Getting stuck in sorting donations… you clearly make a difference.”The experience gave a deeper understanding of local hardship:
“The stark reality. Humbling.”
“How bad the situation is for many people in the community… it’s impressive how committed the team is to helping.”
The atmosphere throughout the day was warm, collaborative, and energising. Every participant rated the session as welcoming and informative, and all said they would recommend the experience to others.
Growing Engagement and Future Opportunities
We were especially encouraged to see that:
75% of attendees want to learn more about Restore’s wider projects.
Over one-third expressed interest in returning, donating items, or exploring other forms of support.
This tells us two things:
Our work is being seen, valued, and understood.
There is a real and growing opportunity to strengthen partnerships with local businesses who want to make a difference.
Thank You, Pexhurst / Spring / Reusefully / Leslie Clark
To everyone from the visiting companies, and to Pexhurst for organising, thank you for your time, your energy, and your willingness to engage with the reality of local need. Your support helps us continue delivering food, compassion, and hope to households across Northampton.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
