DESCRIPTION OF ORGANISATION

Restore Northampton is a Christian CIO run and supported by local people, to serve those in need within Northampton. We are a Real Living Wage Employer and have a great team ethos where faith and family is balanced alongside a commitment to the work of seeing Northampton transformed through love and compassion. This is an opportunity to really make a difference, working within the team that seeks to reduce the impact of poverty, improve wellbeing, support families and build community - sharing God’s love in a very practical way.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Restore is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to provide person-centred support to individuals and families accessing its services, many of whom first engage during times of crisis through Northampton Food Bank and Growbaby. The role focuses on offering a warm welcome, empathetic pastoral care and working alongside befriending volunteers to identify needs and support beneficiaries on a journey from crisis towards greater independence.

The Support Worker will deliver 1:1 and group-based support within the community focused projects at Restore. They will contribute to targeted sessions such as parenting courses and skills workshops. The person-centred approach will include connecting with other local partners to build the best support pathways. The overall aim is to empower individuals and families to build resilience, confidence, skills, and community connections, enabling them to lead fuller and more independent lives.

The Restore team nurtures a culture of empowerment, encouragement and inclusion, with a strong supportive ethos that works together to grow and develop in skills, knowledge and practice. Full training and support will be provided, and responsibilities will be gradually introduced as confidence and competence develop. Healthy balance is encouraged within the staff team, with all posts being part-time, as well as a generous annual leave allowance and space for personal, spiritual and professional development.

Applicants with transferable skills and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. The Support Worker role offers an overlap between multiple disciplines, such as occupational health, family support, social prescribing, coaching and more. The VCFSE (Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise) sector offers a refreshing opportunity to work at a different pace and in a more relational way than many statutory services. This role provides meaningful time to build person-centred relationships with both adults and families, along with greater flexibility to be creative in how support is shaped. There are opportunities to integrate faith in a natural and supportive way, as we work together to Restore Northampton.
